  • A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Clearwater medically evacuated a woman whose jet ski collided with an anchored small boat. She was safely transported to the hospital but her current condition is unknown.

  • The four fishermen who were rescued from Lake Erie yesterday after a long night and day clinging to the hull of their boat talk about their time waiting for rescuers. Video of the rescue is also available.

  • Talk about being at the right place at the right time, two men are very lucky the Coast Guard happened to be transiting by and see them in the water. The two were apparently swept into Lake Ontario when waves crashed on to the breakwall.

  • Although this story comes from Scotland Coast Guard, the message is the same for the U.S. Coast Guard… Hoax calls are an expensive distraction of valuable resources. Children love to play with marine radios and may not realize that the Coast Guard takes what they say seriously. When not underway, please store the radios properly.

  1. I am looking to be in the coast guard but i am going to college and i was wondering what would be the best thing to get a degree in.

  2. Joseph Duke,

I suggest you head over to http://www.gocoastguard.com and look at the many career options available in the Coast Guard. Then, go talk to a recruiter in your area to get answers to all your questions.

These are both excellent resources for people interested in joining the U.S. Coast Guard.
