  • Today, the Coast Guard will honor Roger Stone with a Gold Lifesaving Medal. Mr. Stone lost his life during a sailboat accident in the Gulf of Mexico last year, but before the boat capsized he was able to push two of the six sailing team members to safety. One of the five survivors, Steve Conway, who also helped during the accident, is being awarded the Certificate of Valor.

  • A tragic end to a day out on the water when a man died from injuries received when his jetski collided with a boat. Officials said he was jumping waves and lost control of the jetski. Remember to boat safely and allow plenty of distance between you and other boats/watercraft. Slow down when passing another vessel and consider the impacts of your boat’s wake on other mariners.
