  • Despite conflicting news reports, the Coast Guard did not chase down the man wanted for questioning in a murder investigation. A boat from Coast Guard Station Bellingham, Washington, along with several other agencies assisted in the search for his boat. Officials ultimately found the boat in the Point Roberts area and turned it over to local law enforcement for further investigation.

  • Coast Guard assisted Border Patrol agents after a smuggling boat dropped off 23 suspected illegal Mexican immigrants on Ponto Beach, California. Unfortunately, the boat got away but the 23 immigrants were apprehended.

  • When a crew from Station South Portland, Maine, noticed a boat operating erratically, they made several attempts to stop the boat. Finally, the crew was able to board the boat and found the operator to be acting intoxicated and suspiciously. Guardians worked with the Maine Marine Patrol (MMP) and found the boat to have been stolen and carrying illegally caught lobsters. The MMP is investigating the incident.
