  • CGC Sea Horse heard and responded to the initial distress call from a 28-foot boat taking on water about 30 miles off the coast of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, yesterday. Sea Horse monitored the situation as the vessel in distress transited toward shore because it was only able to control flooding by accelerating up on a plane. Almost four hours later, the boat arrived at Lynnhaven Inlet in Virginia where it slowed down and sank. A Good Samaritan and the crew of the Sea Horse rescued the six passengers from the water. A boat from Coast Guard Station Little Creek transported the survivors to shore.
