When the boat failed to stop, a Coast Guard helicopter fired warning shots and then disabling fire to intercept the boat. Despite the four suspects ditching their contraband, setting fire to their boat and jumping overboard, the Coast Guard was able to detain the suspects and recover 46 bales (2300 pounds) of cocaine. Everyone is encouraged to take three simple steps: (1) put together an emergency supply kit; (2) make a family emergency plan; and (3) get informed about the types of emergencies that could take place in their communities and appropriate responses.
