  • The second National Security Cutter, Waesche, finished acceptance trials on Thursday after four days of testing with no major problems. The Coast Guard is expected to take delivery of the Waesche in early November.

  • A Coast Guard helicopter medically evacuated a hiker from San Pedro Valley County Park who was reportedly suffering from anaphylactic shock after getting bitten or stung. Although San Mateo County Fire Department was on scene assisting the victim, vehicle access was not possible so the Coast Guard was called to hoist the man out of the woods.

  • The Coast Guard rescued two men from the water after the dredge they were working on capsized in Great Egg Inlet, New Jersey. The dredge spilled about 600 gallons of fuel into the water.
