No, not pie as in apple or blueberry, but rather the Coast Guard’s Partnership in Education (PIE) program that has been bringing smiles to teachers and students in communities throughout the nation.

Bravo Zulu to CGC Knight Island’s port crew and the Pacific Strike Team for being awarded the Commandant’s Partnership in Education awards. The units earned the awards in two categories respectively — Best Unit Partnership for cooperative efforts between a Coast Guard unit and a school; and Best Collaborative Partnership for collaborative efforts between Coast Guard units and community organizations in support of local schools.

The Partnership in Education Program is aimed at helping local schools and community groups, particularly in underserved communities, promote academic excellence and raise awareness for the Coast Guard’s missions and people.

Civil Engineering Unit (CEU) Miami, FL and Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Morgan City, LA received honorable mention.

Other units commended for their outstanding contributions and commitment to their communities and the Partnership in Education Program include:
