    1. Hi my name is Pat and I’m doing my senior essay on the coast guard. I was just wandering what some pros and cons are of being the coast guard. I was also wandering how does some as a rescue swimmer cope with not being able to save someone in a tough situation and they die. Does it make that swimmer feel like its there fault or what?

    2. Hi Pat,

Thanks for reaching out with an interest in Coast Guard missions and people – and you’ve brought up some important questions.

We’d like to arrange to have one of our search-and-rescue experts reply with some specifics. That response will likely come via e-mail, within the next few business days.

Until then – stay safe out there.

      Regards,

    3. I want you to know that the crew of the helicopter that went down off the coast of CA are in our prayers. I hope the civilian boaters in the area help in the search for survivors.

Out of all the services, I admire the Coast Guard the most – you risk your lives to save others.
      God Bless you all.
