  • This afternoon, the Commandant and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard will be joined by DHS Secretary Napolitano for the annual wreath laying ceremony honoring former Guardians at the Coast Guard Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony at the Coast Guard Memorial is just one of the ways veterans are being honored today at Arlington National Cemetery.

  • Guardians are one step closer to closing their investigation of a mysterious oil sheen that closed South Carolina beaches and waterways reported on Coast Guard Compass last month. Investigators believe a 600-foot cargo vessel may have spilled up to 200 gallons of heavy bunker fuel in late October. Click here for the Coast Guard press release.

  • The Coast Guard joined first responders, educators and business leaders in a mock terror attack response as part of the 7th Annual Asia-Pacific Homeland Security Summit and Exposition in Hawaii yesterday. More than 250 people participated in the scenario which simulated attacks across Hawaii by more than a dozen al-Qaeda-backed terrorists.

  • Veterans Day has a special meaning for one Worcester, Massachusetts family. The Michalak family sent six brothers into battle during World War II. Eighty-eight year-old Guardian Edward F.
