  • Guardians rescued two men from a capsized boat six miles off the shore of Fort Lauderdale Sunday afternoon. A small boat from Station Fort Lauderdale and a helicopter from Air Station Miami were deployed to locate the boat when it was reported sinking but no location was given. Friends and family were unable to help direct the search as the two men did not file a float plan prior to embarking. Click here for photos and video.

  • A cruise ship played the role of Good Samaritan in the rescue of a Washington couple and their two dogs caught in high winds and rough seas on their way to Hawaii to start a commercial fishing business. Coast Guard aviators managed the rescue scene from the air as the couple, who had to abandon their commercial fishing boat for a life raft, were pulled aboard the cruise ship. The boat was equipped with survival suits for the couple, life jackets for the dogs and a tracking device they hope will allow them to recover their boat.
