
Moments ago, Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced President Obama’s intent to nominate and appoint Vice Admiral Robert J. Papp, Jr. to be the next Commandant of the United States Coast Guard.
Upon Senate confirmation, VADM Papp, who currently serves as Commander of the Atlantic Area and Defense Force East, will relieve Admiral Thad W. Allen during a change of command ceremony on May 25, 2010.
