As the Coast Guard continues operations in support of U.S. government disaster response and humanitarian assistance efforts to Haiti, there are four Coast Guard Cutters (Forward, Mohawk, Tahoma and Valiant) on-scene with two more cutters (Oak and Hamilton) en route.
The cutters Hamilton and Oak are carrying much needed medical supplies to Haiti. CGC Oak, a buoy tender, will also play a critical role in clearing the obstructed commercial harbor at Port-Au-Prince to allow further relief vessels to reach the island.
Coast Guard air stations continue to provide critical support to relief efforts and have delivered supplies as well as civilian search and rescue teams and personnel from FEMA, Health and Human Services and the United Nations in support of relief efforts on the ground.
