Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go through Coast Guard bootcamp?
Over the summer, five recruits were following through basic training at our Training Center in Cape May, NJ. You can watch their interviews and get a taste for USCG bootcamp over at the Coast Guard Recruiting YouTube channel.
Over the eight weeks of training, Anthony Lawing, Cliff Boon, Heather Bevel, Annie Nguyen and Carey North (now Carrie Robertson, as she recently married) volunteered to be interviewed to discuss their Coast Guard basic training experiences. They all come from different backgrounds, have unique perspectives on boot camp, and give their take on life as a Coast Guard recruit. The interview series will show what it’s like going through basic training, from a recruit’s point of view.
In this video, Seaman Recruit Lawing talks about preparing to leave his hometown, Charlotte, NC, to enlist in the Coast Guard and become a Guardian. Here are his accounts after finishing the first week of training.
Although the recruit company graduated on Aug. 14, the videos are just now being posted online. I wonder if they all make it through training? Guess even I will have to stay tuned to the YouTube channel to see what happens…
