Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. local, the Discovery Channel will air “Mayday! Bering Sea,” a documentary featuring the rescue of 42 fishermen onboard the Alaska Ranger, a 189-foot fishing vessel that sunk about 800 miles west of Kodiak in the Bering Sea on Easter morning, March 23, 2008. Several Guardians participated in the filming – some were interviewed for their involvement in the rescue and others took part in the re-enactment.

The Coast Guard also honored the crew of the fishing vessel Alaska Warrior for their help in the rescue with a Meritorious Public Service Award.
