The 2010 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race kicks off this weekend and we will be following Coast Guard sponsored racer, Ken Anderson. Anderson is a nine-year Iditarod veteran who has finished the race in the top five twice, with his best finish in 2008.
The ceremonial start takes place in Anchorage tomorrow before the racer’s begin the over 1,150 mile trek across Alaska in earnest on Sunday.
You can follow Anderson’s progress on the Compass by clicking here or on Coast Guard District Seventeen (Alaska) Twitter where there will be daily updates at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time (5 a.m. and noon ET). You can also check Anderson’s website for his dispatches from the race course.
Good luck to Ken and all the registered mushers!
