Storm Stories: Big Sur Wildfire recounts what many believe to be the worst wildfire event in California’s history. For nearly three weeks in June and July 2008, fires blazed across the breathtaking Big Sur region, terrorized its 1,000 residents and leveled nearly every structure in their path. Also in the line of fire were eight endangered California Condors trapped in a pen at a bird sanctuary on the side of a mountain. The resulting Coast Guard mission to get to the birds before they were burned alive is told through interviews and actual footage of the rescue by Air Station San Francisco.
Hosted by meteorologist and Storm Tracker Jim Cantore, Storm Stories features harrowing and inspiring tales from survivors and rescuers battling amazing weather events.
