‘Likes’ have been tallied and the results for Video of the Year are in! With more than 40,000 views on the Coast Guard’s YouTube channel, we would like to thank everyone who viewed and voted for their favorite video, and a special thanks to all the units and videographers for their exceptional work throughout 2011.

And now the winners…

First Place: Day 4

Receiving 295 votes, the best video of 2011 features Coast Guard members partnering with Moody Garden’s Aquarium and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to release eight Kemp’s Ridley and two Loggerhead turtles. U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 3rd Class Richard Brahm.

Second Place: Day 2

Receiving 245 votes, the video in second place features a familiarity flight for some very special shipmates from various law enforcement agencies around the San Francisco Bay area. The agencies met on Coast Guard Island in Alameda, Calif., to take part in a canine helicopter familiarity training. U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Pamela J. Boehland.

Third Place: Day 10

Receiving 241 votes, the third place video features Coast Guardsmen doing what they do best – saving lives. Although, this rescue found the aircrew saving a man and one other passenger aboard his sailboat, his dog. The rescued took place 120 miles southwest of San Diego.
