On a day where love is all anyone can talk about, it is easy for many military families to feel a little left out. But, to prove it’s still possible to celebrate Valentine’s Day in special ways despite being away from loved ones, Compass reached out to our Facebook fans and Twitter followers and asked for them to share “virtual valentines.” Check out the Valentine’s Day messages below from all over the Coast Guard family; whether they are a member of the Coast Guard performing security missions in the Middle East or a spouse holding down the home front.
If you didn’t get a chance to submit a “virtual valentine,” head over to our Facebook page where you can leave a message of your own… it’s not too late!
To My Amazing Husband, I say I love you, but it isn’t about me – I love what you are, what you do, how hard you try in life. I have seen your strength and your kindness, the best and the worst of you. I love you. I am at rest with you. I have come home. Happy Valentine’s Day to my best friend. Your wife, Darcie
I would like to send a virtual Valentine’s love note to my special MK3 Mcguigan. Next week it will be our first Valentines day, his underway right now and I would love to have him here and tell him how much he means to me! He’s the love of my life and God will protect him anywhere he goes. I Miss you and soon we will be together again. Love, Roxana C.
I would like to send a virtual valentine to my son, ET2 Erick Robert Kelley, who will be in route to his new duty station in Kodiak, Alaska. I have not seen him in person since June 2010. He will be stationed in Kodiak for two years and I just want him to know how much he is missed and will be missed, even though we talk all the time. Love and Miss you Erick very much!! – Kate Kelley
I would like to send a Valentine to both of my son’s Steven Siberski – Station Boston and Stanley “Staush” Siberski – USCGC Escabana. They are the 6th and 7th Coasties who served from the family. – Ruth Orris
I have been stationed in Bahrain for the last eight months. My wife is a stay at home mom. I get to talk to my family from time to time, but to hold them I have to wait one more months. It has been tough, but my wife has been amazing with taking care of our two daughters; Sierra & Teagan. She has: taken them to school, shopping, girl scout events and much more on her own. Her Mom has helped when she can, but my wife is the best woman in my life. To my wife, the most amazing gift from God I could have ever asked for. You brighten up my every day. You strengthen my heart. You show me true love. You are my rock when the nights gets long. You bring out the best smile from me. Every day I thank God for bringing us together. I am truly blessed and ask for nothing else, but your love. Happy Valentine’s, Jonathan Blume, SK1, USCG
To Chief Warrant Officer Travis Parks aboard the Polar Star: It’s not about the anniversaries and birthdays we’ve been apart, it’s about the moments in between that we’ve shared together. I love our life and wouldn’t have it any other way. You are my best friend and you make me the happiest ginger in the world. I love you Pea! Love, your split pea
I want to wish my husband, MK3 Haksteen, on the USCGC Tampa, a happy Valentine’s Day. I love you and I will see you again real soon. – Amber
