As part of an intelligence-driven, risk-based approach to security, TSA began offering TSA Pre✓™  expedited screening to all members of the U.S. military, including reservists and National Guard members. As of Dec. 20, 2013, servicemembers could experience expedited screening at more than 115 TSA Pre✓™ airports by using their official Department of Defense identification number when making flight reservations.

Eligible servicemembers on personal or official travel do not need to travel in uniform to participate in TSA Pre✓™ for military. Accompanying family members ages 12 and under can be processed through expedited screening as well.

Previously, servicemembers were able to use their common access card  at 10 designated TSA Pre✓™ airports. TSA will continue to accept CAC at the original participating airports for a short period to facilitate the transition to service members using their DOD ID number when making the reservation.

For TSA Pre✓™ eligibility, ensure that your DOD ID number is entered into the “Known Traveler Number” field when booking flight reservations or when updating your Defense Travel System profile for official travel.
