The 2014 election season is underway. As a matter of long-standing policy, the Coast Guard does not support or engage in any activities that could be interpreted as associating our service with any particular candidate, political party, organization, or partisan political issue.

The policies on official interaction with political candidates and campaigns, as well as the ability of uniformed and civilian personnel to engage in political activities can be found in ALCOAST 140/14.

Persons seeking further guidance should address questions regarding political activities of Coast Guard personnel to their servicing legal office.

Voting is one of our most fundamental rights as U.S. citizens. The Federal Voting Assistance Program works to ensure service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens are aware of their right to vote and have the tools and resources to successfully do so – from anywhere in the world.
