Machinery Technician Chief Tina M. Claflin was recognized at the Congressional Women’s Caucus 17th Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery May 20, at 9 a.m.

Claflin, along with women from the each of the other services, was recognized by the Congressional Caucus for Woman’s Issues. In attendance were Rep. Tammy Duckworth, Rep. Kristi Noem, Rep. Susan Davis, Rep. Corrine Brown, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, and Rep. Donna Edwards.

As one of the Coast Guard’s highest performing senior enlisted members, Claflin was chosen to represent all servicewomen and women veterans because of her loyalty and dedication to Coast Guardsmen and their families.

Claflin has served underway and ashore, in special assignments as the Women Afloat Coordinator in Enlisted Personnel Management, and is currently assigned to the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Military Campaign Office.

She sets a positive example for all to emulate and truly embodies the Coast Guard core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty.

An acknowledgement and wreath laying ceremony is held every year near Memorial Day to honor fallen servicewomen.
