We are pleased to announce the 2014 nominees for Coast Guard Video of the Year. We’ve selected the top 10 videos, the best of the best, as this year’s nominees. Now, we need your help in deciding the top Coast Guard video for 2014!

 

 

Not a second too late, Coast Guard crews from Station Bellingham, Washington, attempt to pull two young men from the water before drowning in our final video nominee!

The 2014 Coast Guard Video of the Year contest starts Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 and ends Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. The first video nominee will debut here on Compass, along with YouTube, Facebook and Twitter beginning Dec. 22, with a new video released each day through Dec. 31. You can vote for your favorite videos by liking them on Facebook or YouTube, via retweet and favorite on Twitter or commenting below.

The winner will be announced Jan. 5, 2014, on Coast Guard Compass and our Facebook page and we can’t wait to hear from you, our fans, which is your favorite!

  1. Jim Rothermel BMCS Retired I would not use this video for a Promotion. I did not see the standard that I was taught being used.How many of you think the rescue was correctly performed.

    1. I for one DON’T see anything correct about this video. Why didn’t the coxswain move in closer and pick these people up. Poor tossing of a rescue line thrown to survivors. Sorry, thought it was terrible. BMC Brad Willey, Ret.

  2. He definately could have made a better approach from down-wind and broadside to the wind. Let the kids drift into the side of the boat. I learned to bring a victom alongside. Not just within reach of a thrown line. He did however correct his approach in the end.
