Tuesday, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft delivered his first State of the Coast Guard Address and outlined how America’s Coast Guard will meet the challenges of today while preparing for complexities that remain ahead.
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Steven Cantrell provided opening remarks addressing the Coast Guard workforce.
Cantrell focused on the invaluable accomplishments and hard work performed by the members of the Coast Guard.
“I continue to be impressed each day by the work being conducted by the members of our workforce…impressed, but not ever surprised,” said Cantrell.
Cantrell also offered condolences for the recent loss of shipmate, Petty Officer 2nd Class Lisa Trubnikova, and injury of Petty Officer 3rd Class Anna Trubnikova and asked that we keep them, and their families, in our thoughts and prayers.
“Losing colleagues, having them sustain injuries or threatened with harm affects us all; we are too small a service for the contrary to be true,” said Cantrell.
“I’ve had the absolute honor of traveling the world this past year meeting the hardworking men and women of our service and seeing up-close and personal the great work you do in support of your service and your country,” said Cantrell.
