Engineering (CG-ENG10) is a specialty designation for positions and officers. Officers with this designation have demonstrated progress toward any of the engineering subspecialties through education, experience, and PQS completion. The positions identified by this OSC are intended to be filled by an officer with the CG-ENG10 specialty or any of the ENG subspecialties, including:
Specialty | Subspecialties |
ENG10 – Engineering | ENG12 – Naval Engineering |
ENG13 – Civil Engineering | |
ENG15 – Aeronautical Engineering |
There are currently 117 positions with this designation, primarily comprised of Student Engineer Afloat positions at the O1 and O2 grades. Other positions require engineering knowledge and experience but no specific engineering discipline is necessary or the job spans more than one engineering discipline.
The next OSMS blog post will cover each of the engineering subspecialties.
