This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Coast Guard ombudsman program. For 30 years, Coast Guard spouses have served as important liaisons between commands and the families of Coast Guard members who serve at that command.
Their service is crucial to mission execution each and every day. They help new families adjust to the area, they communicate important information on behalf of the command to Coast Guard families, and they provide crucial resources to families in need.
“Family readiness is tied to mission readiness and having a strong family support structure enables our Coast Guardsman to excel at their jobs and the Coast Guard to accomplish its missions,” said Christine Degraw, ombudsman program manager. “Their help successfully navigates the unique challenges of our lifestyle, and the job that they do is immeasurable.”
Even more important, these spouses volunteer their precious time to help others. It’s that selfless notion of service before self that truly makes the Coast Guard ombudsman a special person.
On behalf of a grateful Service, thank you Coast Guard ombudsmen!
