The Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center held a change of command ceremony May 4, 2017, in Norfolk, Virginia.
The change of command ceremony marks a transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. It is a time-honored tradition, conducted before the assembled staff, as well as honored guests and dignitaries to formally demonstrate the continuity of the authority within a command.
Rear Adm. Thomas W. Jones, Coast Guard Deputy for Mission Support, presided over the ceremony where Capt. T. Wade Gesele relieved Capt. George G. Bonner as commander of the unit.

Bonner served as commander of the Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center from June 2014 to May 2017. Under Bonner’s leadership, he expertly led a nationwide 523-member team in the management, maintenance and repair of the entire Coast Guard shore infrastructure plant while providing clear strategic vision and technical expertise. Bonner will report and continue his leadership as Deputy, Director of Operational Logistics based in Norfolk.
Gesele will now be responsible for the field execution of the Coast Guard’s Civil Engineering Program, including planning, design, construction, contracting, environmental, real property and base facility management and operations.
