SEFP programs imbue senior leaders with strategic thinking and policy development skills needed to meet the challenges and opportunities presented in a rapidly evolving world. 192-17_ALCOAST – 2017 All Contingency Preparedness Summit (ACPS) The All Contingency Preparedness Summit (ACPS) will be held 8-11 August 2017, at the General Jacob E. Smart Conference Center, Joint Base Andrews, MD. This is the first time the ACPS has been held since 2011 and is part of the Commandant’s strategy to Build Capacity. The strength of the Coast Guard’s preparedness program has a direct correlation to the Coast Guard’s performance during contingency response operations. By hosting the ACPS, the Coast Guard is ensuring that its preparedness program is continuously improved by adapting to the changing operational landscape and cultivating a highly-skilled, professional workforce.

This ALCOAST announces the winner of the fourth annual Excellence in Marine Inspections Award. Every day, our well trained and skilled Marine Inspectors make difficult decisions with enormous impacts on the safety and security of the shipping industry and our waterways. This award recognizes the duty inspector who best demonstrated the characteristics of a strong trainer and mentor, has had especially noteworthy impacts on increasing marine safety, displayed a top level of expertise, and exhibited the highest levels of professionalism.
190-17_ALCOAST – 2017 MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award recipient
This ALCOAST announces the 2017 MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award recipient. The MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award was established in 2001 and is named in honor of MCPO Pearl Faurie, who on 1 January 1964 was the first SPAR to achieve the rank of E-9.

This ALCOAST announces the 2017 Captain Dorothy Stratton Leadership Award recipient. The CAPT Dorothy Stratton Leadership Award was established in 2001 and is named in honor of the first Director of the Women’s Reserve (SPARS) during World War II.
188-17_ALCOAST – Human Capital Strategy – Blended Retirement System (BRS) – Comparison Calculator
This ALCOAST coincides with the public launch and media campaign advertising the BRS comparison calculator and supplements guidance, required training and financial education opportunities. The official comparison calculator should be the only calculator used by service members as other tools may not have received adequate vetting. Designed to assist eligible service members, the calculator compares the current retirement system, often referred to as the “High-3,” and the BRS. The calculator compliments but does not replace the mandatory Joint Knowledge Online Opt-in Course (JKO).
186-17_ALCOAST – Coast Guard Special Needs Program Enrollment reminder
In anticipation of the upcoming transfer season, the Office of Work-Life (CG-111) is providing information regarding the Special Needs Program. The Special Needs Program is a mandatory enrollment program for all active duty (AD) and selected reserve members on orders for 181 days or more (hereinafter referred to as AD members) who have dependent family members diagnosed with medical, psychological, physical, or educational special needs. The objective of the program is to identify and support the special needs of a Coast Guard family while allowing the AD member to maintain the maximum assignment flexibility possible.
