The Foundation for Coast Guard History has announced the winners of the annual FCGH awards.
At the request of the Senate, the United States Coast Guard will support the 2018 Senate Youth Program from 3 March – 10 March, 2018 in Washington, DC by providing escort officers to serve as counselors, facilitators, and ambassadors of the armed forces. This “Washington Week” is an intensive week of educational activities in the nation’s capital. The student delegates along with their military mentors spend every day and every meal together with senior leaders of our nation, learning about all facets of public service and gaining a deeper understanding of the interrelationship of the legislative, judicial and executive branches.
Congratulations to Yeoman First Class Ainara Farina, the 2017 Latina Style Distinguished Service Award Recipient. This award recognizes excellence of women in the military who through their exemplary service have enhanced the role of Latinas in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Congratulations to Cmdr. Nicolette Vaughan, Mr. Alvin Dalmida Jr. and Mr. Damien Terry as the Coast Guard recipients of the 2017 National IMAGE Meritorious Service Award recipients. This award honors personnel who have significantly supported and contributed to the Coast Guard’s missions and whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.
Each year, our Nation honors the culture and contributions of Hispanic Americans during the period of September 15th through October 15th. Unlike other special ethnic observances, Hispanic Heritage Month begins during one month and extends mid-way through the next to recognize the anniversary of independence for several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Chile.
The Coast Guard is proud to announce the solicitation period for the Rear Adm. Richard E. Bennis Award for Excellence in Maritime Security. This biennial award serves to highlight and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions of the maritime community with regards to implementation of Maritime Transportation Security Act requirements and other maritime security best practices in safeguarding our nation’s marine transportation system. In addition, the award serves as a tool to encourage all regulated organizations to assess their overall security program to identify strengths and weaknesses, seek creative solutions for addressing known risks, build a system of continuous improvement, and share best practices that would benefit similar organizations.
Congratulations to the 2017 recipients of the Coast Guard Foundation Award recipients. This year, the Foundation specifically wished to honor outstanding individual, crew, or unit performance with both military and Auxiliary nominees.
