ALCOAST 296/17 – NATIONAL DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH
Throughout the month of October, the Federal Government and other employers nationwide will observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month spotlighting the theme: “Inclusion Drives Innovation.” This annual recognition of the contributions of individuals with disabilities who strengthen our workforce and communities, advances the Nation’s commitment to the promise of equal opportunity, equal access and respect for the human and civil rights of all Americans.
ALCGPSC 119/17 – DEATH OF A RETIRED FLAG OFFICER
It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Rear Admiral William Sheldon Schwob, USCG (retired), who passed away on Wednesday, 20 September 2017 in Clearwater, FL at the age of 90. RADM Schwob’s biography may be found on the USCG Historian’s website at https://www.uscg.mil/history/people/Flags/SchwobW.Bio.pdf. RADM Schwob was predeceased by his wife Mary Eleanor Schwob (Reese) of Jermyn, PA, and is survived by his four children, Mary (Bill) Mulligan, Kate, Susan, and Sarah, and 4 grandchildren.
ALCGPSC 118/17 – UNIFORM REPLACEMENT FOR HURRICANE MARIA RELIEF OPERATIONS
Personnel in direct support of Hurricane Maria relief operations, and members impacted by the storm with permanent duty stations within the affected area whom have been unable to return to their homes or places of work to retrieve their uniforms, can be authorized replacement uniforms in kind, if their uniforms have been damaged and are non-serviceable.
ALCGPSC 116/17 – PY18 RESERVE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR (RPA) APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for the Promotion Year 2018 (PY18) RPA Designation Board are due by 25 October 2017. In accordance with REF A, the Board will convene on 1 November 2017 to consider officers for designation as provisional RPAs. This is a two-phase board. Officers selected during phase one will receive orders to travel to CG PSC for an interview during the week of 11 December 2017. RPAs can expect an exciting and unique career organizing, administering, recruiting, instructing, and training the Reserve force to meet present and future Coast Guard mission requirements.
