WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coast Guard active duty members and civilian employees get their final instructions before activating their inflatable life jackets for Inflatable Life Jacket World Record Day in front of Coast Guard Headquarters, May 20, 2010. This event was one of dozens held across the U.S. and Canada in an effort to encourage more boaters to wear a life jacket. Sponsored by the National Safe Boating Council in partnership with the Canadian Safe Boating Council, the event was part of the kick-off for National Safe Boating Week in hopes of setting a world record for the number of inflatable life jackets activated.
