Currently, the Coast Guard employs 16 canine explosive detection teams, which are comprised of one Coast Guard working dog and one handler. The teams are located across the country at Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Teams and the Coast Guard Maritime Security Response Team. It’s the unique capabilities that these detection dogs bring to the teams that make them so effective.
