Beginning June 8, 2015, and continuing through June 19, 2015, OPM will be sending notifications to individuals whose PII was potentially compromised in cybersecurity incident affecting its systems and data that may have exposed the Personally Identifiable Information. More than 8,000 civilian Coast Guard employees may have been affected.
In the wake of a recent cybersecurity intrusion into the Office of Personnel Management data systems, potentially 4 million federal employees may have been impacted, including more than 8,000 civilian Coast Guard employees. Beginning June 8, 2015, those affected will be notified by email or official letter via the U.S. Postal Service. All notifications will occur prior to June 19, 2015.
The 2015 Hurricane season is fast approaching. To prepare Coast Guard personnel and their families for the possible hardships brought forth by such ravaging storms, Coast Guard commands across the country are revising contingency plans, executing hurricane exercises, performing training, etc.

Prevention Officers with this specialty have the training, skills, and experience to manage and execute the Coast Guard’s prevention operations. Prevention mission management requires detailed knowledge of the inspection of vessels, facilities, maritime investigations, enforcement of waterway safety and security standards, and waterway analyses.

Arriving at home on the evening of March 3, 2015 I was still energized over the day’s events.
