For those who can join friends, family and loved ones over the holiday season, Fran and I encourage you to make the most of every moment as we honor those who are on watch tonight, and every night, protecting the freedoms we so enjoy.

For the second straight year, I am celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday overseas. As Coast Guard Commandant, I am incredibly thankful.
At the start of Military Family Month, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft held a live Facebook Q&A. He was joined by his wife, Fran DeNinno-Zukunft, who serves as one of the Coast Guard’s Ombudsmen at Large, to discuss key issues on the minds of Coast Guard members and their families.
Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft will be holding a live Facebook Q&A on Nov. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. EDT to commemorate the start of Military Family Month. He’ll be joined by his wife, Fran DeNinno-Zukunft, who serves as one of the Coast Guard’s Ombudsmen at Large, to discuss the Coast Guard workforce and their families – key tenets of the Commandant’s Duty to People initiative.
Fran and I extend a heartfelt seasons greetings to our Coast Guard family around the world. We are especially grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of those Coast Guard men and women – and all members of the Armed Forces – who stand the watch. We were honored to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with our men and women stationed at Patrol Forces Southwest Asia and saw firsthand those who place Service before self to accomplish the mission.
