Earlier today, Rear Adm. Stephen P. Metruck, assistant commandant for Resources & chief financial officer announced a suspension of mass transit benefits until Fiscal Year 2014 appropriations are made available to the Coast Guard.

Today, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Rand Beers announced that most Coast Guard civilian personnel placed on emergency furlough during the government shutdown will be asked to return to work beginning next week.
