As 217 cadets in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Class of 2015 swore the oath of office in the presence of their commander in chief, they set their course to ensure their names would be etched in the annals of history.

Federal agencies and international partners are working tirelessly in the United States and abroad to combat Transnational Organized Crime networks. These efforts have been instrumental in eradicating production facilities and controlling the purchase of precursor chemicals used to make drugs; interrupting mobility corridors when illegal narcotics are being moved to stockpile locations; and integrating efforts to disrupt drug shipments and the distribution chain to impact the network itself.
Coast Guard units at all levels have the opportunity to participate in the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War by becoming Commemorative Partners. This experience can provide a meaningful link between present-day service members and those who served in the past – especially for units that deployed or otherwise supported the Vietnam War.
For the past several years, the Coast Guard has shared it’s birthday with the Commander in Chief and President Barack Obama has taken some time from his own celebration to recognize our Service and send greetings to those who celebrate the anniversary of the Nation’s oldest continuous naval service.

As a ship captain, you quickly learn when the sky darkens and the seas get rough to have extra life lines rigged fore and aft for crew members that may need to venture out on the weather decks during the storm. If they fall, they will land between the life lines – not overboard. For more than forty years, the Coast Guard Foundation has been the life line for Coast Guard men, women and their families.
